About the project
The approximately 42,000 files in the fonds Rep. 36A Oberfinanzpräsident Berlin-Brandenburg (II) document the systematic realisation of the assets of persons persecuted as Jewish or ‘hostile to the Reich’. In the first phase of the project, the files were restored and digitised.
The provenance researchers involved in the project are currently analysing the documents with the help of a system developed for this purpose in order to identify information on the current locations of looted art and cultural assets. The Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media (BKM) and the Ministry of Science, Research and Culture of the State of Brandenburg (MWFK) are funding the project.
Since February 2024, the files have been digitally available to all researchers in the archive database. You can find a search aid here.
